Gantt and Kanban views
Toggle between two views of the same data. Sort and filter without losing structure.
Roadmap OS shows the same roadmap data in two views. Toggle between them with the top-right view switcher.
Gantt timeline
A horizontal timeline with one bar per initiative.
Best for:- Quarterly board reviews
- Visualizing dependencies and date overlaps
- Spotting capacity conflicts
- Communicating "what's shipping when"
- Today line — vertical red marker showing the current date
- Date range filter — top-right (This Quarter / This FY / Next 6 Months / custom)
- Section headers — colored bands grouping initiatives by section
- Status colors — bar colors indicate status (gray/blue/green/amber/red)
- Drag — drag the bar to move the initiative; drag bar edges to resize the date range
- Zoom — buttons to zoom from days to quarters
Kanban board
A status-column board with one card per initiative.
Best for:- Weekly team syncs
- Identifying stuck initiatives
- Status updates
- Flow visibility ("what's actually moving?")
- Columns — Strategy / In Progress / Released / At Risk / Delayed
- Cards — drag to change status
- Section grouping — cards are also grouped by section within each column
- Filters — same filter set as Gantt (owner, priority, label, date range)
Toggling between views
The top-right view switcher has three options:
- Timeline (Gantt)
- Kanban
- List (table view, useful for bulk editing)
Switching is instant; data is preserved across views.
When to use which
| Situation | Best view |
|---|---|
| Board / quarterly review | Timeline |
| Customer-facing roadmap page | Now/Next/Later (a sub-mode of Timeline) |
| Weekly team sync | Kanban |
| "What's at risk?" question | Kanban filtered to "At Risk" + "Delayed" |
| Bulk-editing 20 initiatives | List |
| Capacity planning | Timeline + capacity sidebar |
Sorting and structure
In both Timeline and Kanban, you can:
- Sort by priority — within each section, initiatives reorder; section structure stays intact
- Sort by owner — group by team member while keeping sections
- Sort by status — see "what's slipping" across all sections
Most roadmap tools force you to choose between sorting and section structure. Roadmap OS lets you have both.
Filtering
Filter buttons at the top:
- Owner — show only initiatives owned by selected people
- Priority — show only P0 / P1 / etc.
- Status — multi-select (e.g., "show only At Risk + Delayed")
- Section — focus on one or more sections
- Labels — multi-select labels
- Date range — preset or custom
Filters are saved per-user, per-view. They don't affect what other team members see.
Filter presets
Create named filter combinations for repeated use:
- "Q3 Mobile Only" (section=Mobile + dates=Q3)
- "Owner: Sabelo" (owner=Sabelo)
- "At-Risk Initiatives" (status=At Risk + Delayed)
Apply with one click.
