A step-by-step guide to a useful Roadmap OS workspace in 10 minutes.

Step 1: Create your workspace (60 seconds)

  1. Sign up at app.roadmapos.com/signup
  2. Confirm your email
  3. The onboarding wizard asks for:
  • Workspace name (your team or company name)
  • Logo (optional — can upload later)
  • Primary use case (Roadmap, Capacity, or Both)

You'll land on the Dashboard.

Step 2: Add your first 3 initiatives (3 minutes)

Click Roadmap in the top nav.

  1. Press N (or click "+ Add initiative")
  2. Enter a name — your most important Q-current bet
  3. Set owner, priority, date range
  4. Save with Enter

Repeat for two more initiatives. Don't aim for perfect — you'll iterate.

Tip: sections survive sorting in Roadmap OS. If you create section headers (e.g., "Mobile" / "Core" / "Growth"), you can sort initiatives by priority or owner without losing the section structure.

Step 3: Toggle Gantt ↔ Kanban (30 seconds)

In the Roadmap module, the top-right toggle switches between:

  • Timeline — Gantt view with date ranges and the today line
  • Kanban — status-column board for flow visibility

Same data, two views. Different audiences want different views.

Step 4: Invite your team (2 minutes)

Click your avatar (top-right) → SettingsTeam.

  • Add team-member emails
  • Roles: Admin / Editor / Viewer
  • They get a magic-link email — no separate signup
Tip: total-team pricing means there's no per-seat cost. Invite stakeholders, sales, customer success — engagement compounds.

Step 5: Connect Jira (or your delivery tool) — 2 minutes

Settings → Integrations → Jira → Connect

OAuth flow takes 30 seconds. Existing Jira epics auto-import as initiatives. Future Jira issue updates flow back as initiative status updates.

Don't have Jira? GitHub, Slack, Asana, and Linear are also supported. Setup is the same pattern.

Step 6: Set up CapacityIQ (2 minutes)

Click CapacityIQ → Teams & People → Add team member.

  • Enter team-member name + weekly capacity (default 40h)
  • Optional: avatar, role, time zone
  • Add 3-5 members to start

Now when you go back to Roadmap and add an initiative, the capacity sidebar shows availability for the date range.

You're done

In 10 minutes you have:

  • A workspace with 3 initiatives
  • Gantt + Kanban views
  • Your team invited
  • Jira sync (if applicable)
  • Capacity tracking
